When I look back at my life, I see a girl who came from nothing. A girl born in Vietnam, in a poor family, with parents who believed your destiny was already written.
I remember my parents saying, “You’re not meant to be rich. Who do you think we are?”
Those words shaped me, but not in the way they expected.
I refused to believe I was stuck. I told myself, “One day, I will prove you wrong. I will create a life I love.”
Why Goal Setting Matter to Entrepreneurs
Goals saved me.
When I moved to Australia, I had no money, no guidance, and no mentor. At 20, I was a single mum, filling my car with $20 of petrol because that’s all I could afford.
But I had one thing that changed everything: belief. Belief that if someone else could create success, I could too.
Goal setting became my way of building belief into action. It gave me direction when life felt like chaos.
Start Your Goals With a Big Dream
I’ve always been a dreamer. My dream wasn’t just to be “wealthy”. It was to be generous. To be able to surprise my parents by paying off their mortgage. To create something bigger than myself.
That’s why I built Outsourcing Angel with social impact at its heart. I wanted success to mean more than money.
Your dream should excite you. It should give you a reason to get up every morning.
Set Layers of Goals
Big dreams are powerful, but they need a roadmap.
I break my goals into three layers:
- 10-year goals – Big, bold, scary dreams.
- 3-year goals – Things I believe are possible with effort and time.
- 1-year goals – Clear steps I can act on right now.
When I started my business as a single mum, I wrote goals like owning a home and creating a million-dollar business.
Did I know how I’d get there? No.
But I wrote them anyway.
Set Goals for Every Area of Life
I don’t just set business goals. I write goals for my health, my love life, my family, and my personal growth. Because if one area of life is empty, the rest feels off-balance.
When I met my husband, I had already written about the relationship I wanted. I wrote sentences like, “My partner is so loving and caring.” I wrote as if it had already happened.
Visualise and Feel Yourself Achieving Your Goals
This is my favourite part.
I write my goals as if I’ve already achieved them. Not “I want to earn this much,” but “I am earning $10,000 a month.” I imagine how it feels. I get excited, happy, and grateful before it’s even real.
This simple mindset shift has helped me manifest so many things. From my relationship to our infinity pool, none of it was by chance.
Detaching From Deadlines as an Entrepreneur
One of my biggest lessons is not to give up when things take longer than expected.
When I started my business, I wrote, “I will create a million-dollar business in one year.”
Did I achieve it in one year? No. But I didn’t throw the dream away. I just extended the timeline, because progress matters more than perfection.
Keep Showing Up
Some goals take years.
I’ve had “get a six-pack” written in my goals for what feels like forever! I’m still working on it, and that’s OK.
Every step forward builds confidence.
Every little win shows me that I can create anything I want.
Goal Setting with 360º Success
Goal setting is at the heart of creating 360º Success. Success is not one-dimensional. It’s not just about building a business or making money.
True success means creating a life where every area feels aligned – business, health, relationships, family, finances, and personal happiness.
When I set goals, I look at all these areas like slices of a circle. If one slice is broken, the whole circle feels off-balance.
That’s why my 360º Success framework encourages you to create harmony, not just hustle.
Goal Setting Checklist For Entrepreneurs:
If you’re ready to set your own goals, here’s my simple 5-step checklist:
- Dream Big – Write down your biggest, craziest dreams without filtering them.
- Break Them Down – Create 10-year, 3-year, and 1-year goals to give your dreams structure.
- Cover All Areas – Include business, health, love, family, and personal growth goals.
- Write It as Reality – Use present tense, as if you’ve already achieved them.
- Stay Flexible – If the timeline shifts, adjust it but never abandon the goal.
Goal setting is not just a practice, it’s a lifestyle.
It’s how I’ve built the life I have now, from nothing, with belief, clarity, and action.
You have the power to design your life.
Start with one goal today, and watch how much you can achieve when you align it with your vision and your 360º success journey.
