Just last month in November 2014, my business Red & Black Solutions turned 4 years old. I still remember those days when I was attending all these internet business and personal development seminars wondering how wonderful it would be to be able to start an online business that gives me the freedom to work anywhere anytime. I feel so proud that I have managed to turn my dreams into a reality.
I often get asked what does Red & Black mean? How did you come up with that name? Valid question! However I don’t really have a cool valid answer to give you. At the time, I had a business partner and when we were brainstorming for a business name she said lets call it Red & Black Solutions. I said why? She said because your hair is black and mine is red. I said ok, cool! And that’s how we got the name. I am a very easy going and laid back type of person. Im never fuss about the details and quite impulsive. So as you can see, the name was so random, looking back now I can’t believe how little effort we put in naming our business considering we had to live with it for the rest of our lives. I guess it doesn’t really matter what you call yourself at the end of the day, as long as you are good at what you do and you care about your customers.
Looking back at the past 4 year, I can really see how much I have grown and Ive become a much more wiser business woman. I remember the first two years, I was still trying to find myself. I tried to be everything to everyone. I didn’t know what I was good at and who my ideal clients were. But luckily I’ve always had a great team behind me who were talented and were so reliable which made all my customers happy. Most of my business have come from word of mouth and repeat businesses. The last two years have been the growth years where we managed to setup some partnerships that provided us with ongoing work. We were at a very comfortable stage, we knew what work we have on every month, we know what we are good at and who our ideal clients are. Overall it has been a great 4 years!
I look forward to what the new year will bring us. I know business is never easy, it requires hard work and commitment. But I look forward to the challenge. Bring it on 2015!
